Over the 4th of July I got invited to go with a friend to GEORGIA. She went on her mission there and was invited my someone she taught (Kenny) to come visit- all expense paid! :) So here is the story (short version) of my trip to Georgia!
We left
EARLY (plane flew out at 6:20 a.m.) Thursday morning so in order to have time to drive to the airport, find parking, get through security, etc. we had to wake up at 3:30 a.m.! Enter picture 1- Waiting our turn to board the plane...I was SO tired but SO excited (this was my first plane ride- crazy I know) at the same time that there was
NO WAY I was going to be able to sleep. JaNan on the other hand found it very easy to sleep whenever possible.
SO EXCITED TO FLY....
Some of the Random things we did on the flight:
Pic. 1- JaNan Texting one of her many man lovers
AFTER they told us to turn off and put all electronic devices away.
BAD GIRL! It was pretty funny though how she tried to disguise it behind the emergency pamphlet.
Pic. 2- So I got a little nervous- the only thing I could think of to calm my nervous...
HA! Jk. The guy the sat next to JaNan got one and I don't know why but I wanted a picture. lol So JaNan leaned over and was like, "Um my friend doesn't drink but she likes your bottle, can she have a picture with it?" He gave me a wierd look and kept laughing at me while I was taking a picture. I'm random, I konw.
Pic. 3- My entertainment for several hours while JaNan always seemed to be sleeping as soon as we took off. I fell in love with Cran-Apple minute maide. YUM! (Vodka free)
First site of
ATLANTA! :) Though this might be what most people think Atlanta looks like...it's not at all. There are tree
GALORE! Everywhere you drive you can't see where you destination is because tree (Big Trees) line both sides of the road. Its so pretty- but it can also cause frustration when you get lost for
HOURS on end. I sure am glad I wasn't driving!
First meal in Georgia. This was the start of way to many
HUGE meals! I tasted things that were, well frankly, disgusting! Of course there were several things that were SO good and thats why I probably gained 50lbs whi
le I was there. lol. Okra, black-eyed peas, Fried Chicken, Salt (is that a food cuz I think they put it on by the cubes), Red Velvet cake, Carrot cake, steak, oh and don't forget the
GRITS! (My face turns green thinking about the grits).
This cute little old lady was a friend of JaNan's. She came with us to dinner and was pretty funny. I love her fancy flower hat! Classy! She got mad at me though for waisting some chicken... thats a "sin" in the south! haha
Our Hotel: We stayed in the "Westin." Nice place! It made it hard to wake up every morning cuz our beds were beyond comfy! The timer on the camera was SO fast so I look a little retarted from trying to run and jump on the bed before it took the picture. lol The other picture is a view from our window...told ya, SO MANY
TREES!
Play
TIME!!! Friday night was our time to play and see the sites of Atlanta. JaNan wanted me to experience riding "Marta" which is the train system that loops around Most of Atlanta. Here I am pretending to "Patiently wait" but really I wasn't very patient. lol
CNN CenterThis picture cracks me up! So we went to the Olympic square. In the middle there is all this water shooting up (yes, i'll state the obvious thank you). So it was all black kids so I was like, "JaNan go stand in the middle of them, you'll be the only white tall person." haha See if you can find her. She has a black shirt on so she kind of blends! lol ;)
Underground Mall- It's pretty sweet! There is a bunch of history behind what it was before it became a mall. I won't go into that though. This post is already miles long.
Saturday was the 4th and we had us a nice big BBQ
at the Chatanooga River. We had
SO much food...enough to feed about 40 and there was 8 of us. Yes, I'm a very patriotic person! I didn't even think about it til I came home that Crocks were probably around those parts! Scary! You can pretty much cross the entire river without even getting your head wet. Fun place to play!
Our group at the
BBQ. Kenny is the guy in the wheel chair that flew us over there. He fought in the Vietnam war so it was pretty cool to hear a few of his stories. Seemed like a pretty good way to spend the fourth to me. He's a very generous guy and he always had me laughin at things he would say.
Well there are a ton more pictures and stories I could go on and on about but this blog is so long!! So last but not least is the fly home. I'll only post one picture of the clouds from the plane. I took about thirty, JaNan thinks i'm weird cuz of how many pictures I took.
I like to call this my "
Air Force One" Shot. lol Georgia was a blast! I
LOVED it and I can't wait til the next opportunity I have to travel again! It really is so fun seeing different parts of the world and experiencing how other people think and live.
Oh and P.S. I got to see a
FIREFLY!!!! They are so cool, I've waiting 25 years to see one of those bugs!
